FOUR members of Bretforton Hockey Club featured in last Saturday's National Veteran Ladies Finals at Southgate where they were unlucky not to come away with a medal.
Bobbie Handley, Jane Wheeler, Gilly Wright and Debbie Slatter turned out for Cotswold Sunsetters (Gloucestershire Vets), who had qualified for the finals at the West of England tournament in April.
The quartet helped their side maintain an unbeaten record at the event with three wins and a draw - a series of results that saw the Sunsetters, competing at the nationals for the first time, not concede a goal. However, despite their magnificent record, they could only finish third to miss out on a medal by a solitary goal.
A fifth Bretforton player, Julie Stowe, was also at Southgate representing Gloucestershire at the sen-ior national finals.
