WEST Mercia Police are considering a call for a 50mph speed limit on the A456 as it passes through Little Hereford on its way between Woofferton and Kidderminster.
Herefordshire county councillor John Stone said that checks carried out by the police between the county boundary sign to the west of Little Hereford and Easton Court to the east satisfied the criteria for a 50mph limit. Now the police had to decide whether it could be enforced.
"If the police give the go-ahead it could still take 18 months as it goes to the county council," warned Mr Stone.
"There has been a long-running campaign over the years to bring in a limit. There are three very bad spots along that stretch of road by the bridge at the Temeside Inn, at the parish hall and by Easton Court. A limit will make them a lot safer."
