GARDENING CLUB: Members met on the evening Wednesday, May 28 at the delightful gardens of Derrick and Rowlatt Cook at Touchstone, Wickhamford. Rowlatt and Derrick moved to Wickhamford nearly two years ago from the award winning gardens at Red Gables, and their current garden although on a smaller scale is a great credit to the designer Dominic Furlong and to their own global plant forays.
The evening was bathed in sunshine and was enjoyed by 26 members with refreshments being provided by the hosts. At the conclusion of the evening the chairman Colin Hill proposed a vote of thanks to Derrick and Rowlatt, and also welcomed back Ros Fairbrother after a short absence for hip surgery.
The next meeting will be at the Wickhamford Memorial Hall on the evening of Thursday, June 26, and will include a talk by Grace Derby entitled Bulbs Through the Year. The competition will be for three stems in a vase (alpines and herbaceous).
