THE Wyre Forest Group of Worcestershire Wildlife Trust presented this concert in association with the Midland Gershwin Mayerl Society.
The irrepressible Guy Rowland and popular pianists Janine Smith and Michael Jones are always welcome visitors and there was also the pleasure of seeing Janine's 14-year-old pupil, Georgi Ivanov, who has gained in confidence since I last saw him.
There were solos and duets. Among the highlights was Georgi's version of Billy Mayerl's Railroad Rhythm.
To my delight, Michael chose Mayerl's Forgotten Forest and nearly reduced his audience to tears with a sensitive Autumn by Chaminade.
Granados' Lover and the Nightingale was Janine's solo highlight, and she accompanied Guy in several items, including Flanders and Swann numbers.
Guy became the "Galloping Major", complete with moustache, monocle, and a "horse" on which he proceeded to bound around the library music room.
How Janine could carry on playing during these antics is beyond me. A real fun evening.
