THE South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust is to go ahead with changes to the Minor Injuries Unit at Evesham Community Hospital, despite strong objections .
The decision taken yesterday means that the MIU will be staffed by one full-time and one unqualified nurse on any one shift, instead of two full-time qualified staff.
Frances Smith, chairman of the League of Friends of Evesham Community Hospital, said: "I am dismayed that they haven't listened to the objections of local people, but I am pleased they are looking at integrating the services of staff from Birlingham Ward and theatre if there is the MIU demand."
Mrs Smith said the good news was that the under-threat Day Rehabilitation Unit was to continue in its present form.
The PCT agreed to support the development of a business case for the re-provision of hospital and health care facilities on the Civic Centre site in Pershore.
