ABOUT 40 signs demanding pedestrians surrender their booze to police are to shortly go up around Bewdley.
The notices - of various sizes - will inform drinkers in the town centre they face up to £500 in fines if they refuse to hand open alcohol containers over to the police.
A site visit was made by conservation and highway bosses from Wyre Forest District Council yesterday and beat manager at Bewdley PC Nigel Barter said the signs should be up by the end of the month.
