A QUARTET of local clubs will be bidding to book a place in the regional finals of The Cricketer National Village Championship.
First time entrants Bretforton play host to Cookley on Sunday (2pm) and they could come up against fellow Cotswold Hills Leaguers Overbury in the Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Powys group final.
However, the latter face a stiff task as they hit the road for a third time but the emphatic manner of victories in their two previous rounds should certainly give opponents Astwood Bank plenty to think about.
Exhall and Wixford have also had to travel twice to reach the Leic-estershire and Warwick-shire semi-final and a third trip to Bitteswell on Sunday will revive memories of an earlier success over the Leicestershire hosts.
Dumbleton, meanwhile, will be bidding to better last summer's journey to the last 32 and subsequent defeat at the hands of eventual winners, Shipton-under-Wychwood, when they entertain Marshfield this weekend.
Group finals are scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 22 with the final at Lord's on Sunday, September 7.
Bretforton warmed up for the task ahead with a superb Sunday Clubs League display against Barnt Green last weekend.
Pete Cross ended unbeaten on 99 in a total of 207-4 that proved 34 too many the visitors who subsided to a couple of fine spells of bowling from Ade Witts and Alex Evans who both took three wickets.
