SIMON Tarplee has won a place in the Great Britain team for next month's World Archery Cham-pionships in New York.
The Evesham shooter travelled to Lilleshall for the qualifying event where breezy conditions made life tricky for all the competitors.
However, Tarplee won two of his three matches and secured second place behind Chris White of Wootton Wawen, who completed a hat-trick of wins.
It was a nerve wracking time for the Evesham club man who had to rely on single arrow shoot-offs in both matches after the scores were tied on each occasion.
The championships get under way on July 14 and Tarplee, who has to find some of his travelling and accommodation expenses, is hoping a local individual or company will help him meet the costs.
Funding from the National Archery Society is limited so, if you can help, then ring Simon on 01789 490227 (office) or 01386 40990 (evgs).
