Trysull 104-8 Bishop's Castle 105-0
CASTLE claimed their first Bank's Shropshire League Division Two win in six starts with an emphatic 10-wicket win at Trysull.
Skipper Richard Whately won the toss and asked the home side to bat. His decision was vindicated when the Castle attack of seam bowlers Simon Palmer and Andrew Lewis pinned down the home batsmen who had great difficulty in despatching the ball off the square. Backed up by keen Castle fielding both bowlers reeled off 17 economical overs each with Palmer taking 2-12 and Lewis 2-39.
Trysull could not pick up the tempo and struggled to a very mediocre 104-8 off their allotted 45 overs, with change bowlers Steve Morris (2-15) and Edgar Whately (2-23) backing up their openers bowlers and proving equally difficult to score off.
Faced with a modest target, Castle openers Morris and Richard Fifield set off at a cracking tempo and cruised to victory off only 22 overs with an unbroken stand of 105.
Morris compiled an unbeaten 39 and Fifield a hard-hitting 48 not out as Castle claimed 20 points.
