LUDLOW Town have drawn a plum home tie against former Football League and Conference League newcomers Shrewsbury Town in the semi-final of the Shropshire Senior Cup, to be played at the magnificent new Coors stadium on Tuesday, July 22, kick-off at 7.45pm.
Commenting on the draw, Town's chairman Peter Gwilliam said: "I am delighted and looking forward to our first-ever competitive meeting with Shrewsbury Town.
"They have a lot of fans in Shrewsbury and it will give our supporters and local football enthusiasts a chance to view our excellent new facilities.
"Another big attraction will be the appearance of local lad Jamie Tolley who starred for the local school side before joining Shrewsbury, and whose family still live in the town."
Town's manager Les Bristow was equally enthusiastic about the draw and added: "It is a wonderful opportunity for our fans to support us in numbers at our new home after a couple of seasons ground sharing and playing away from Ludlow.
"We will be looking to put a good performance to set us up for a determined challenge for Midland Alliance honours.
"I am putting together a strong squad and am still talking to a number of players. I hope to be able to give details soon."
Building work on the new stadium at Bromfield Road is going well and will be completed for the busy pre-season schedule.
Among the visitors to Ludlow will be renowned FA Cup giantkillers Hereford United of the Conference League, who will bring a full-strength team to the Coors Stadium for a pre-season friendly on Tuesday, July 29.
