MORE than 600 households across Wyre Forest have done their bit for the environment - and grabbed a cut-price composting bin.
Wyre Forest District Council has teamed up with Original Organics to promote compost bins to its residents - and more than 600 have already been sold, with orders coming in daily.
Rebecca Robinson, the council's new waste minimisation officer, said the initiative was designed to help reduce the amount of recyclable rubbish thrown away.
"Did you know that the average person produces their body weight in rubbish every month?" she asked.
"With over 30 per cent of that being made up of kitchen and garden waste, composting is a very important process."
Tea bags, eggshells, vegetable peelings, grass cuttings and dead flowers are among the types of rubbish which can be composted.
One household has the chance to win a free composting bin.
