STRATFORD B regained top spot in the Prudden Road Surfacing Tennis League after an exciting victory over South Warwickshire League champions Studley A.
This was always going to be the match of the week when Stratford entertained slightly weakened opponents and the rivalry showed from the outset.
Simon West and Mark Denby lost the opening set 6-3 to Studley's John White and Chris Smith. Howe-ver, they fought back to take the second 6-4, before securing victory with a 7-5 scoreline in the decider.
After the change it was Tim Page and Jim Harris's turn to narrowly defeat White and Smith by the odd game 7-5, 6-4.
Meanwhile, Studley's other duo of Gary Jackson and Peter Wersocki went down to Page and Harris 6-1, 6-3 and to West and Denby 6-4, 6-1 to give all four points to Stratford B who now lead the table by one point.
Inkberrow A's inactivity saw Stratford C take the opportunity to climb up to third place after a 3-1 win over bottom of the table Tanworth-in-Arden.
This result also pushed Inkberrow down to fourth by virtue of being beaten by Stratford C in the previous week's confrontation.
Stratford captain Greg Delaney partnered by Callum Bailey took maximum points with wins over Nick Danks and Ian Phillips 7-6, 6-4, and Phil Wells and Richard Little-child 6-2, 7-6.
Teammates Slatter and Hodges lost to Wells and Littlechild 6-2, 5-7, 4-6. but overcame Danks and Phillips 6-1, 6-4.
