THE first inter-club competition of the year between Evesham Wheelers and Strat-ford Cycling Club took place last Wednesday evening on the Salford Priors ten-mile Time Trial course.
In warm and almost perfect conditions, Stratford, as expected trounced their Vale counter- parts in the team event on actual times although Evesham upheld their honour in the veteran competition with a narrower margin than in previous years.
Evesham times: Brian Newton 21.58; Lee Perry 22.53; Phil Parsons 23.01, Martin Hall 23.21, Steve McGrath 24.29; Brian Lee 25.02. Stratford: Nick Green 21.26; Steve Faul-kner 21.33; Robin Corder 22.05.
The veterans standards were plus 18.02 for Eve-sham against plus 17.46 for the visitors.
After four events the points table for club members is taking shape with Ben Stockdale leading the juniors on 12 points, Newton (24) leading the veterans category and Martin Hall (14) topping the senior table.
John Jenkins will lead Sunday's club run to Cleeve Hill golf course, meet in the High Street at 9am.
