A DOZEN dancing youngsters from Hanley Swan returned from Birmingham tired but happy after appearing on stage at the Hippodrome.
The seven girls and five boys from St Gabriel's with St Mary's Primary School performed alongside schools and other groups from Birmingham, Solihull and Stoke on Trent as part of the Dancers in Residence scheme.
This followed a four-week residency by professional dancer Rachael Alexander, who worked with children in the upper junior school.
At the Hippodrome last Saturday (May 31), the children spent the morning and afternoon in rehearsal before an evening show in front of parents and friends.
The school's deputy head Anna Streather said there had been some "lovely comments" about the pupils' Egyptian-inspired routine.
"The standard was very good. We were very proud of our pupils," she said. "I think they gained a huge amount."
