I ATTENDED the Kennedy concert on Friday, May 9, also sitting in row F (six from the front) and was spellbound right the way through.
If Ms Dean (Your Letters, May 23) is a true fan she would know that Nigel's three greatest passions are Bach, jazz and football, maybe not in that order.
The unaccompanied Bach was indeed impressive; the jazz was from the heart and certainly, although loud, was not too loud for any of us. Of course, it wasn't Vivaldi or Lark Ascending, it was a musician playing something different, giving a platform to an unknown Polish group and his true fans a fantastic evening. What spoilt it more was people getting up to go.
He gave this concert for his friends and for the sake of the theatre. What other small (approx 800 seats) theatre could boast an appearance by one of the world's greatest violinists at £15 per head.
The tickets for this concert were a surprise 60th birthday present to me and we travelled up from North Devon for it. I have always been a big fan of Nigel's, my friends not quite so much, but now their views are changed - they thought the evening was wonderful.
Please can we have more.
GERALDINE GRAVE, Alverdiscott, Devon.
