A PLANNING application to paint a milestone on the A44 Bromyard Road, Knightwick, has been approved.
The county highways authority wants to paint the 19th Century sandstone structure, which is grade II listed, to make it more visible so it is not hit by machinery when the verge is mown.
The type of paint proposed, called granital white keim mineralised, has been recommended by English Heritage.
The move is against the wishes of the parish council which fears the more conspicuous milestone would be vulnerable to theft.
