MALVERN College have been enjoying a successful season, seven victories and only one defeat, and this has been capped by reaching the final of the Chesterton Cup.
This takes place on the County Ground at Worcester on Sunday, June 8, starting at 1pm, when they play their traditional rivals, Cheltenham College.
The competition, devised by George Chesterton, a former president of Worcestershire CCC and master at Malvern College, comprises all the main cricket playing schools in the counties of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.
Mr Chesterton will be presenting the cup to the winners of the 40 over match.
The Malvern side is of more than usual interest because it contains two French boys, Charles-Henri Daffern and Arum Ayavooraja, both play cricket for the French national team. Daffern, who lives in Ledbury, qualifies by virtue of having a French mother and Arum, whose family comes from India, lives in Paris.
The team also contains a few Englishmen, such as Charles Tolchard, son of Leicestershire player Roger, William Murtagh, son of Hampshire player Andy and captain Will Gifford, currently a member of the Worcestershire Academy.
Entrance to the New Road match is free.
