CRIME-BUSTING community wardens have been appointed to Droitwich and Evesham to keep an eye on crime in the two towns.
The wardens have been hired as part of the new crime and anti-social behaviour initiative in Wychavon and will work side-by-side with the police in an effort to clamp down on these problems.
At the same time, they will also gain the trust of residents to help out with such concerns as housing management and improving the local environment.
Tim Tyler has been employed to cover the town centre of Evesham as well as the Bengeworth and Rynal Place areas, while Trevor Clark will patrol the Westlands Estate in Droitwich.
"Both men are basically the link between the community and local services in their area," said David Hemming, Wychavon's community safety co-ordinator.
"For example, residents can report issues such as graffiti on walls or noisy neighbours to them directly, and they will make sure the relevant service provider is informed."
The new posts are the result of a joint initiative between Wychavon District Council, the police, Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership, Evesham and Pershore Housing Association, and Worcestershire Housing Association.
"This is real partnership working in action and I hope residents will make the most of this new addition to their community," added Mr Hemming.
