STAR pupil Meghan Hill has reached the top spot in her school and is now hoping to hit the heights in the world of showbiz.
Sixteen-year-old Meghan, head girl at Worcester's Bishop Perowne High School, has won the starring role in a production of Annie Get Your Gun and is also auditioning for the second series of Pop Idol.
Meghan, of Perdiswell, is playing Annie Oakley in Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society's Youth Section's show, to be held at the city's Swan Theatre in the summer.
"I'm really enjoying it, but finding it hard work. I love the songs, especially Moonshine Lullaby that I sing to my 'brothers and sisters'," said Meghan, who is also busy revising for 10 GCSEs.
She is hoping that her strong, theatrical singing voice will win the judges' votes at the Pop Idol 2 auditions being held in Manchester on Wednesday, June 25.
"I'm not sure what I am singing yet, but it only has to be a verse and a chorus, so you have to make an impression quickly," she said.
"I know there are thousands who go for Pop Idol.
"I've always enjoyed singing and dancing but I'm really nervous about this. It will be an experience and I would just love to get through the first stage."
Annie Get Your Gun, Meghan's fourth show with WODYS, is being presented at The Swan Theatre from Tuesday, July 29, to Saturday, August 2.
