A DROITWICH businessman who used company money to fund his own wedding and a move to Cyprus has been banned from acting as a company director - for the second time.
Andrew Nolan, formerly of Nightingale Close, was a director of 0700 Realisations Ltd, of Redditch.
He left the insurance intermediary business with debts of £722,713 - using the majority of the money for himself. A judge heard he had spent some of the money on his own wedding, and to fund a move to Cyprus.
The company, incorporated as Swiftact Ltd, was placed into voluntary liquidation on July 25, 2000.
Birmingham County Court has issued a disqualification order preventing Mr Nolan from being directly, or indirectly, being concerned in or taking part in the promotion, formation or management of a company until 2018.
The judge in the case said it was one of the most serious he had ever seen and was "particularly appalled by the flagrant abuse of monies provided on trust for the company, and that company monies were spent on personal matters."
In 1994 Mr Nolan was disqualified for three years from being a director for his unfit conduct in the role for a company called Crimewatch (UK) Ltd.
The company was placed into compulsory liquidation in March 1992 owing members an estimated total of £92,261.
This time the court found that he caused or allowed 0700 to continue to trade when it was unstable to meet it debts from at least September 1999, and failed to ensure that refunds and deposits due to customers in excess of £95,000 were paid.
He was also found to have failed to co-operate fully with the liquidator and to have given loans to directors when the company could not afford it.
Mr Nolan could not be contacted by the Evening News for a comment.
