A MAN from Evesham stole two shampoo bottles because he was "bored", Worcester magistrates heard.
The court was told that Wayne Given, from Deacle Place, was seen on CCTV taking the items, valued at £4.93, from Superdrug in Abbey Gate Shopping Centre, Evesham, on February 19.
Mark Soper, prosecuting, said Given had returned the items when confronted outside the store, but then ran off.
He said Given had later handed himself in to police and admitted the offence during an interview on April 12.
Mr Edward Smith, defending, said it was a "pointless and meaningless crime" and was very much out of character for his client who only did it because he was, at the time, out of work and feeling "bored".
The magistrates ordered him to pay a £75 fine plus £55 costs.
Given told the court that he was sorry and he had made efforts to apologise to the store manager.
