TOWN followed up last weekend's 5-0 drubbing of Rainworth in the FA Carlsberg Vase with a 6-0 thrashing of Lye Town in this Express and Star Premier Division fixture at Langland Stadium on Saturday.
MALVERN TOWN 6, LYE TOWN 0
After a fairly inconsequential opening 20 minutes, Lee Hooper put Town in front when he latched on to Rick Halion's superb through ball, to first dummy the keeper, before slotting home.
Two minutes later the Lye goalkeeper was dismissed for handling outside the area. Despite the free kick being cleared, the ball fell straight into the path of Dean Whittal-Williams who set up Hooper, who in turn calmly lobbed the ball over the helpless Lye substitute goalkeeper to secure his side's second goal.
The second period saw Malvern totally dominate the proceedings, Des Cox added Town's third goal in the 60th minute, having hit the crossbar from point blank range just three minutes earlier and five minutes later Rick Halion scored the goal of the game, with a stunning 30 yard volley.
Cox added his second goal, when he slotted home a simple chance from the edge of the six yard box in the 77th minute and in the 88th minute secured his hat-trick and side's sixth goal, when he cut in from the left.
Town general manager Richard Anson said: "It was important that we got the three points today and to do so emphatically was a bonus.
"Although we were missing Dean Roberts who is a big influence up front, Des and Lee are on fire at the moment having both scored five goals in our last two games.
Lee's first goal was an exceptional finish and I think we forget he is still only 17.
"Lee Goodman also did well on his debut, and just needs one or two more games to build up his match fitness and Eugene Azor showed some good touches when he came on."
TOWN Reserves suffered a 2-0 defeat at Lye Town on Saturday, and tomorrow (Saturday) go in search of their first points Express and Star Division One (S) points, when similarly pointless local rivals Malvern Rangers visit the Langland Stadium (2.45pm).
