BROMSGROVE Rovers supporters have started a remarkable campaign to get fans favourite Les Palmer voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
A message on the club's official website, suggesting the stalwart be put forward for the award, has prompted a mass surge of voting from fellow surfers.
Fans have been casting their votes by e-mail and have passed on the message to friends and family to vote for Les before the show goes out on BBC One this Sunday.
Palmer, who has scored nine goals this season to add to his 17 last term, has currently clocked up in excess of 35 votes but fans are hoping for more.
Although supporters accept Palmer has virtually no chance of making the shortlist, they want their loyalty to Palmer, Rovers and non-league football in general to be recognised by the nation.
