ASK any Bromsgrove Rovers fan to name their club's most famous match and you should get the same answer - Barnsley in the FA Cup third round.
January 8, 1994 will forever be etched in Bromsgrove folklore as the day eleven footballing heroes were two minutes away from beating the South Yorkshire men and reaching the fourth round.
Current Rovers player Mark Crisp gave Rovers the lead midway through the first half, a lead held until 88 minutes when Andy Rammell equalised. The heartbreak was compounded when Owen Archdeacon scored the winner in injury time. The rest, as they say, is history.
But Bromsgrove Rovers Supporters Society events organiser David Stephens remembers the game as if it were yesterday.
"It was an unbelievable atmosphere for the Rovers fans and it was out of this world. The feeling after the game was gutting and the players felt the same."
To mark the occasion, more than eight years on, Stephens and the society have managed to get most of the playing squad back together for a special reunion in the Victoria Club, in Birmingham Road, this Saturday at 7.30pm.
The likes of Ron Green, Jim Skelding, Steve Stott, Shaun O'Meara and assistant coach of the day Dougie Griffiths will all be at the reunion. The game will also be shown on a big screen.
In addition, captain Kevin Richardson, Paul Webb, Chris Hanks and Rob Shilvock will be among players the society hope to introduce to the crowd before Rovers' afternoon clash with Clevedon Town.
The society, which currently has 203 members, have organised the event as an opportunity to bring together fans old and new.
Stephens said: "It is the first time we had thought about getting some of the people back who gave us the best years of our lives football wise.
"The players we are talking about haven't been back to the club since they left because of what has happened over the past five or six years."
Tickets are £2.50 for society members and £5 for non-members, available from society members or David Stephens on 01527 871398.
