REDS boss Rod Brown has criticised his players after what he described as 'a poor game' at Clevedon at the weekend.

United lost their recent hard-earned momentum in the Dr Martens League Western Division with a 1-0 defeat to frustrate their manager.

The United chief says his revamped squad are taking time to settle down after the arrival of four new signings in a month.

Brown continued to reshape his squad by releasing striker Peter Sutton and defender Dennis Mulholland.

Sutton has already spoken to Alliance neighbours Studley, where he enjoyed a brief, prolific spell last season.

He partnered Lee Booth for much of the season at the Valley but has been pushed down the pecking order after the arrival of Mark Scott and Jimmy Quiggan.

Midfielder Richard Softley will miss the trip to third placed Weston super Mare on Saturday (ko 3pm) and Tuesday's much-postponed Worcestershire Senior Cup trip to Sutton Coldfield Town (ko 7.30pm) after damaging ligaments in Saturday's defeat.

He is set to be on the treatment table for two or three weeks.

Winger Matty Hall is only a fortnight away from a return after a fractured cheekbone at Swindon Supermarine.

After last week's 2-1 Birmingham Senior Cup defeat at Conference side Burton, Tuesday's Cup tie represents Redditch's last chance of silverware this season.
