A FORMER Worcester YMCA resident left a man needing stitches after he threw orange juice into his face and then smashed the jug on his head.
James McCue, aged 21, had been in an argument at the Henwick Road centre with then resident David Greenshields, before it boiled over in the breakfast room.
Worcester magistrates heard how McCue, who has a previous conviction for wounding, attacked Mr Greenshields on Tuesday, June 3.
Prosecuting, Jackie Rogers said the complainant was walking to the breakfast area of the YMCA and there had been words exchanged earlier between the two.
"He said the defendant charged towards him and threw the jug of orange juice on his head and then smashed the jug on it," said Miss Rogers.
"He said he could feel something running down his arm and realised blood was coming from his head. He was left lying on the floor and nurses and staff came running to him."
Mr Greenshields had butterfly stitches for a half-inch cut to his forehead. His eye, nose and chin were also cut in the attack.
McCue, of St Paul's Hostel, Tallow Hill, admitted to causing actual bodily harm.
Defending, Chris Hilton said there were issues to address but said he would "not labour the points any further" if a pre- sentence report was to be made.
Magistrates adjourned sentencing until Monday, July 7, for a report.
