ON Sunday morning, Police Superintendent Hayes, Redditch, was driving with his son in the neighbourhood of Inkberrow and when about a mile on the Redditch road, a pony attached to a governess cart came galloping down a narrow lane.
A collision resulted, the cart behind the runaway being smashed.
The pony turned round and with only the harness on, ran back to its owner at the Swan Hotel, Alcester, a distance of six miles.
Mr Hayes escaped with a shaking but his trap was considerably damaged.
