ASTWOOD Bank booked their place in the Regional Final of the National Village Knockout by thrashing Cotswold Hills League leaders Overbury on Sunday.

The Division One hosts refused to be overawed by their league leading opponents and Alex Robinson hit an unbeaten 44 with Pete Alexander adding 42 as they raced to 224-6.

In reply Overbury could muster only 161ao with Dan Sealey claiming 3-23 and Ian Bowes 2-27 to crown an impressive performance.

And with the Bank securing another home draw against a team languishing almost two divisions below Overbury in the regional final, Robinson's side will fancy their chances.

Bretforton, who beat Cookley on Sunday, sit bottom of the Cotswold Hills League First Division after a miserable record of just one win from their opening six fixtures and visit Astwood Bank a week on Sunday.

And confidence is high at Sambourne Lane with memories of the 1972 side which reached the National Final still fresh.

There is no let-up for the Bank with a derby clash at home to Feckenham on Saturday (2pm start).

And they have a Worcestershire County League quarter final date at Pershore looming despite not having played a game in this year's competition.

The villagers had a bye in the first round and were awarded a walkover in Round Two after their initial attempt against Worcester Nomads was rained off and Nomads were unable to raise a side for the second date.

Bank will have to overturn the odds at their First Division opponents.
