THE number of youngsters who went through police custody fell by almost 20 per cent during a summer activities programme held across Redditch last year, recent figures have revealed.
The Hot Stuff Summer Programme, which began as a pilot in Batchley four years ago, takes place across the whole of Redditch and a six week run will start again next month.
And this year the programme has been tailored to meet the needs and requests of a specially formed steering group made up of young people.
The programme is supported and funded by a number of organisations, including the police and Worcestershire County Council.
Activities, including sport, fun trips away, drama workshops and cooking classes, will take place throughout the whole of the summer break.
Further information can be found at neighbourhood offices, the YMCA and at Redditch Youth House.
