THE conversion of a hard-to-let house into two flats in Batchley has led to harsh criticism from some Redditch councillors.
Work to split the property in Salters Lane has been branded 'a complete waste of money' despite the fact council officers could not find any tenants for it as a house.
The project formed part of a multi-million pound revamp of council owned homes across the town.
During a visit to the flats, director of housing Jackie Smith informed councillors letters detailing the new property had been sent to 400 people on the waiting list.
Councillor Jack Cookson agreed the property should have remained as a house and not converted into flats.
