ALMOST 80 residents have joined forces in an attempt to overturn a housing development plan which includes the bottom of their gardens.
Residents of Mount Pleasant are outraged Redditch Council's development brief to build 19 homes at the back of their homes was given the green light at an executive committee meeting on Wednesday.
The brief has been designed to stop piecemeal developments and would only ever go ahead if every resident agreed to sell off their gardens.
Furious residents feel having a development plan which includes the bottom of their gardens will devalue and blight their homes in the future.
Resident Gary Blythe said none of the residents were prepared to sell the bottoms of their gardens and they would campaign to stop the brief from being agreed at full council on July 7.
Council Leader Gavin Smithers said he understood residents felt apprehensive but explained the brief was designed to protect their interests, not threaten or undermine them.
Mr Smithers said the development brief had been amended to take into account the issues raised by residents.
