Three star
IT'S not that this is a particularly bad film, it just doesn't excel at anything.
Frank Martin (Jason Statham) is The Transporter, whose chosen career is transporting goods other people will not, whether legal or highly illegal, in the animal, vegetable or mineral category.
His only rules are that no names are ever exchanged, he only transports what has been specifically agreed upon and he must never look in the packages.
This all goes horribly wrong when one package he is transporting starts to squirm and he looks inside, discovering a beautiful girl who has been kidnapped by international slave traders.
Feeling pity for the girl who, luckily for Frank, looks like a supermodel, he decides he's not going to deliver her to her final destination and ends up trying to keep her and himself alive.
This is an action-packed film but there are so many bombs and explosions and high octane scenes that by half way through, you become immune to them.
And what on earth was Mr Statham trying to achieve with that accent? I wasn't entirely sure whether he was going for a Pierce Brosnan or an Inspector Clouseau style.
Apart from these dodgy sounds he sometimes produces from his mouth, he plays this part well.
There are a couple of special features on the DVD but they're not particularly impressive.
