AUDIENCES are guaranteed rip-roaring entertainment when the stage production of Calamity Jane rolls into town later this month.
Guns, cowboys and showgirls are on the bill as the Norbury Theatre launches into a nine-show run of the Western, made famous by Doris Day in 1953.
Starring Kate Freeman as Calamity, the story follows her relationship with friendly enemy Wild Bill Hickock (Andrew Bartlett).
But when Calamity goes to Chicago in search of a top actress for her Golden Garter stage she brings back Katie Adams (Sara Hicks-Jones), a potential rival for Calamity's male friends, Wild Bill and army lieutenant Danny Gilmartin (Tom Coxon-Stanhope).
Also featuring a lavish score and set, the show boasts a strong chorus and promises to provide a thoroughly enjoyable evening out.
Director Glynis Smith said: "The company is working very hard to produce a professional quality performance from which the public will get their money's worth."
Calamity Jane runs at the Friar Street Theatre venue from Thursday, June 19 until Saturday 21 and again from Wednesday, June 25 to Saturday 28 with a matinee on each Saturday.
Evening performances start at 7.30pm and matinees at 2.30pm. Tickets are £7.50 and £6.50, available on 01905 770154.
