REDDITCH skipper Nev Mason says relegation to a newly-formed third division would do little to affect the Bromsgrove Road club.

The bottom six teams in divisions Two West and East at the end of the season will be combined in a new Division Three but Mason says he is not worried about the repercussions of finishing seventh.

The Redditch skipper, whose side are clinging on to sixth after an expected win over basement boys Stourbridge at the weekend, said there was little chance of a drop in quality in Division Three for the same reason.

Mason's men gained a hard-earned victory at Stourbridge in a match played on a good, firm pitch.

Taking first innings, Redditch were made to struggle for runs.

Dan Protherough (17) and Dan Fredrich (ten) made a positive start and with - top scorer - Luke Davis (37), Richard Stokes (20) and 18no from Geoff Eley, Redditch were able to reach 133ao in 43.3 overs.

In their reply Stourbridge also batted positively until Tim Piper dismissed their Australian for 26.

Spinners Dan Fredrich 5-31 and John Lostitch 2-21 took over, backed up by excellent fielding and two good run outs and Stourbridge were dismissed for 108 to give Redditch a 25-run victory and 20 points.

Mason will be hoping to take advantage against another struggling side on Saturday when Redditch entertain a relegation-haunted Beacon side who have won just once in seven attempts.
