A CARING Bromsgrove woman has told of the strange feeling she experienced when she read for the first time the script of a Hollywood movie to be made about her life.
Elizabeth Knight, from Sidemoor, has just returned from a two week trip to Hollywood where she stayed at the luxury home of British film director-scriptwriter Andrew Findley.
Andrew has just put the finishing touches to a script for a film to be called Take Me Home.
The script tells how Elizabeth had the body of Sioux Indian chief, Long Wolf, removed from a London cemetery so he could be returned to his tribal homelands in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
The story began after 62-year-old Elizabeth read about Long Wolf, who died of a fever in 1892, while touring with Buffalo Bill's Wild West show in England.
The story was in a second hand book bought from Bromsgrove Market Hall.
Elizabeth was so inspired that she made sure Long Wolf could go home to his native America.
The script is expected to be sold to a film company owned by mega-star Mel Gibson. However, it may be some time before it finally reaches the big screen.
For contractual reasons Elizabeth cannot discuss the script in detail.
"It's an excellent script and Andrew has kept it true to my story," she said. "I laughed and cried at the same time when I read it and it gave me a very strange feeling when I saw my life laid out before me in the pages of the script."
Elizabeth, who has a life-long interest in North American Indians, is concerned for their welfare and well-being.
She plans to use profits from the film rights to help improve their lives. While in the States she took the opportunity to visit Long Wolf's grave again and meet some of his ancestors, who are also set to take a share of the film's profits.
Andrew Findley is expected to visit Elizabeth in Bromsgrove next month to discuss the film venture.
