TEE-ED off youngsters from a Rednal school have swapped their pens and pencils for golf clubs at a sporting tournament.
Pupils from Rednal Hill Junior School were given the chance to rub shoulders with some of Europe's finest golfers at the British Open, held at the Marriott Forest of Arden course, in Warwickshire, last week.
They were invited to promote 'Tri-Golf', which has been developed at the school to introduce more children to the sport.
The Irwin Road school introduced 'Tri-Golf' in 2002 and headteacher Graham Catt and his staff attended a golf training course.
And they will shortly be constructing a nine-hole, 36-par course within the school grounds, giving boys and girls the opportunity to develop their skills.
There are already plans in the pipeline to hold a Rednal Hill Junior Open.
Mr Catt said: "I am delighted that we were invited to take a school party to this highly prestigious event.
"The school is very proud of its sporting achievements and our attendance at this tournament is recognition of the progress we have made with 'Tri-Golf' at the school.
"All of my staff are looking forward to the construction of our own course and the added fun and excitement it will add to the school's curriculum."
