WORCESTERSHIRE may consider finding a short-term replacement for Andrew Hall after being hit by a major injury crisis.

Director of cricket Tom Moody admits the County are 'looking at options' now that their playing resources are stretched to the limit.

As well as having a massive casualty list, Worcestershire are about to lose all-rounder Hall for a brief spell due to one-day international commitments for South Africa.

Kabir Ali and Vikram Solanki are also heading out of New Road this week to prepare for one-day duties with England.

Their departures come at a time when the County have been ravaged by injuries, the latest being batsman Anurag Singh who pulled a hamstring while batting during the C&G quarter-final against Leicestershire yesterday.

Moody said: "We are looking at options. We may even reconsider the position of replacing Hall during the period he's away because of the sudden injury influx we have had.

"Singh could be out for a week or two. Again it adds to the pile of injuries we have got over the last few days. But it's just one of those things you have got to deal with. There are so many injuries I'm beginning to lose count."

The County are hoping that the broken bone in Graeme Hick's left hand will only keep him out for no more than three or four weeks, while pace ace Nantie Hayward was due to have a scan on his damaged ankle today.

Moody said: "He's having the scan just to confirm the findings from the physios really. It's just to make sure it's nothing more than what they think it is."

The County are hoping opener Stephen Peters' damaged finger will heal in time for Sunday's National League match against Leicestershire.

Other casualties include wicketkeeper James Pipe (eye) and paceman Chris Liptrot (split finger).
