A FATHER was beaten up on his own doorstep by his daughter's boyfriend, Worcester Crown Court was told.
Ronald Weaver, who was nearly 60, was attacked by Mark Nicklin who had been drinking following the break-up of a nine-year relationship.
Nicklin had called at Mr Weaver's home in Farmer's Piece, Droitwich, to retrieve bank cards and keys from the victim's daughter Cherill Weaver.
But he lost his temper and punched Mr Weaver to the ground, said David Iles, prosecuting.
Nicklin's pal, Martin Goodyear, kicked the victim in the head as he lay helpless.
Mr Weaver suffered a cut forehead and cuts to his lip and nose. An ambulance was called but he refused to be taken to hospital.
Nicklin, aged 22, of Hunters Close, Droitwich, was jailed for nine months. Goodyear, 27, of Meadow Walk, Droitwich, was jailed for three months and ordered to serve 90 days of an unexpired prison licence. They both admitted affray.
Nicklin phoned his ex-girlfriend a number of times on October 20 last year and made threats before going to her home along with Goodyear and another man, said Mr Iles.
After the violence, Nicklin phoned the house again telling the family to get Cherill on the phone "or I'll do her dad again and again".
He told police he did not go round for a fight and just swung at Mr Weaver's body. He had a record for assault, affray, threatening behaviour and handling stolen goods.
Goodyear, a roofer, had served a two and a half year jail sentence for drug possession with intent to supply.
Trevor Meegan, for Nicklin, said the motivation for the attack was unclear. The building labourer had kept out of trouble for five years.
Andrew Evans, for Goodyear, said he was a bystander most of the time but through misplaced loyalty eventually got involved.
Judge David McEvoy QC said police photographs showed "the mess" they made of the victim.
