MAX Darby, a 10-year-old member of a city amateur dramatic society's youth group, has landed himself a part in Guys and Dolls, being staged at the Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham, this summer.
The Northwick Manor Junior School pupil auditioned with some 300 youngsters aged between 10 and 21, to win a place in the cast.
"There were hundreds queuing for the audition so I didn't think I stood a chance," said Max, who has been a member of Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Youth Section for two years.
"I had to sing, dance and do some dialogue. Then I went away and forgot about it. I was really shocked when the letter came saying I was in."
Max, who lives in Claines, Worcester, plays keyboard and clarinet and loves to sing.
He is currently rehearsing for WODYS' Annie Get Your Gun, to be staged at Worcester's Swan Theatre next month, when he plays the part of Little Jake, Annie Oakley's brother.
"I am so excited at getting these parts. I want to be an actor when I'm older," he said.
Annie Get Your Gun, being performed by a cast of 70 youngsters aged eight to 18, is at the Swan Theatre, Worcester, from Tuesday, July 29, to Saturday, August 2.
