Because of the clean food campaign which was launched in Redditch some time ago and because local shop keepers were asked to keep dogs out of their shops, Redditch councillors think it would be inadvisable to permit a dog show to be held in the council-owned Kingfisher Restaurant.
The Urban Council will be recommended by its entertainments committee to refuse an application by the Redditch Canine Society to hold a show in the hall next month.
Says Councillor N V Read: "Dogs are a menace to society."
Other councillors thought that the dogs would be undesirable in a restaurant and only three members voted to grant the application.
