DEATH of Mr J Lamb - Studley. The death of Mr John Lamb, builder, which took place on Friday has removed one who in many respects was a remarkable man and a fine example of what may be accomplished by industry, perseverance and untiring energy.
In social life he was of a retiring disposition, never forcing himself to the front.
Though he always took a warm interest in all that concerned the welfare of the village and was for many years a useful member of the Lodge of Oddfellows.
The funeral took place on Monday in the family vault in St Mary's Catholic churchyard.
The coffin was of polished oak and bore the inscription 'John Lamb, died January 30th, 1903, aged 69 years.'
The funeral service was conducted by the Rev Father Thomas.
