REDDITCH Development Corporation is poised to begin an ambitious £500,000 facelift of the older shopping areas in Headless Cross and the town centre.
It is a scheme designed to improve the two districts without radically altering their appearance.
Shop fronts will be renovated, buildings improved and in the town centre Church Green will become an attractively pedestrianised precinct.
Improvement work on the old Evesham Street arcade in the town centre has already begun.
The corporation is spending £160,000 renovating the shops and has allocated a further £100,000 needed to bring the old Royal Hotel and former Woolworth's store up to scratch.
