SIX kind-hearted people have been rewarded for their volunteer services at a Red Cross presentation.
The Mayor of Worcester, Coun Gareth Jones, gave out service badges on behalf of the Red Cross to a number of volunteers working for the Red Cross Home from Hospital scheme.
The scheme supports patients who have recently been discharged from hospital and who are living in Worcestershire.
Volunteers visit the patient for four weeks to provide them with help to aid independence.
Ingrid Watts, from Tenbury Wells was awarded a badge of honour for her outstanding service to the Red Cross for 60 years.
The 75-year-old who was born in Berlin, originally served in the German Red Cross.
Hazel and Fred Woolhead, from Callow End, were presented with certificates of commendation and a five- year service badge each.
Ann Spensley, of Powick, was presented with a 15- year service badge, Hilary Mitchell, from Droitwich, was presented with a 10-year service badge, and Sally Steadman, of Pershore, was presented with a five- year service badge.
The presentation took place at Avoncroft Museum in Stoke Heath, near Bromsgrove.
"Our volunteers are marvellous and the scheme would not be possible without them," said Gill Swindin, assistant co-ordinator of the Red Cross Home From Hospital Scheme.
"We are always looking for new volunteers."
