REDDITCH'S plush new magistrates court opened this week - and it was business as usual.
Magistrates quickly settled in to hear deception, indecent assault and theft cases after their move from the old Church Green courtrooms.
The purpose-built complex in Grove Street is linked to a new police station next door.
The police should have already moved in but have been kept waiting because of difficulties installing the communication system.
When the police station opens, it will be possible to transfer prisoners from the cells to the court through a covered passageway.
The new complex also houses probation and after care service offices which are ready to be occupied.
The only snag on the day was refreshments. Vending machines are on order but have not arrived yet.
It is hoped the WRVS will also run a coffee bar service.
