MORE than £2,500 worth of jewellery has been donated to a hospice for the terminally ill, following an appeal.
Staff at Worcester's St Richard's Hospice, on Rose Hill, were appealing for people to donate any unwanted items to the hospice to help raise funds.
Since the appeal was launched in the hospice's newsletter a couple of months ago, more than 50 items of jewellery have been given.
The items that have been donated so far have been valued by a local jewellers and some of the pieces will now go up for auction.
"The response we have had so far is wonderful - it's terrific," said director of fund-raising Marilyn Peachey.
"It's just amazing because sometimes people aren't able to donate cash but want to give something.
"There's been just such a vast array of jewellery given to us so far, from some antique pieces to some less valuable pieces."
Anyone wanting to contribute any items of jewellery can take them to the hospice or call 01905 763963 to arrange collection.
