RESIDENTS will be given the chance to name new streets, manage landscaping in their area and have greater involvement in planning decisions, it has been announced.
Redditch Council wants to be seen to make a difference in the town by giving greater responsibility to residents, organisations and groups.
The move comes in an attempt to reduce costs and prevent council tax rising.
Redditch Councillor David Cartwright said if people wanted to carry out landscaping and improvement work in their area, they should be allowed to get on with it without the council managing or controlling it.
People would also have an input on deciding which sites across the town should be developed in the future as part of the local plan.
