BROMSGROVE Cricket Club First XI captain Nick Husbands is calling on his side to dig deep in a bid to save their season after a three-wicket defeat at Wroxeter and Uppington.
Husbands watched his side capitulate to 91-5 after a promising start last Saturday en route to their third loss of the campaign.
The result keeps them seventh in Birmingham and District division one, four behind Wroxeter, and the skipper knows a vast improvement is needed ahead of this Saturday's trip to second place Leamington.
He said: "We must stop losing wickets in a quick succession. What is really frustrating is that we discussed it before the match yet it still happened. We had a great start but it all went wrong once the first wicket fell.
"If we get the batting right who knows what we'll do but at the moment we have to really dig deep."
Simon Keyte (32) and Nick Davies (29) put on 69 for the first wicket before Keyte's dismissal sparked an incredible collapse.
Davies and Paul Duffy (3) saw the Boars slip to 81-3. Ross Liddell (8) and Nick Reade (10) gave Wroxeter's Lewis the first four wickets and left Bromsgrove struggling on 91-5.
Jamie Campbell (27 not out) and Richard Barnes (35no) helped the visitors reach just 153-5 from 55 overs.
Farrow (3-44) and Husbands (3-40) reduced the hosts' reply to 30-3. A partnership of 49 between Jones (18) and Guy Home redressed the balance before further strikes from Husbands and Campell.
Wroxeter skipper Ed Home (18no) saw his side home by three wickets.
