KEVIN May shrugged off a time delay in the third race of the Hillingdon Tri Series to clinch fourth place and win the overall event.
The Worcester Triathlon Club member endured a 800-metre swim, 6km run and a 22km bike ride to claim the fourth despite being delayed in the run to bike transit area.
Due to his good positions in the earlier two races he has come out the overall winner of the series.
May was delighted with the result especially as his swim times improved at each race.
Helen Wootton, meanwhile has qualified for the World Championships after a top-30 finish.
Wootton took on the Dambuster Olympic distance triathlon which was a qualifier for the GB age group team that will travel to New Zealand in December 2003 for the World Triathlon Championship.
The swim of 1,500 metres took place in Rutland Reservoir, followed by a hilly 28-mile bike and finally a 10 km run in the lanes of Leicestershire.
Wootton finished in 29th position overall in a time of two hours, 40 minutes and 33 seconds.
She was sufficiently high enough placed in her age group to qualify for the worlds.
n Two Worcester members did the Translink Open 10-mile time trail held on the Leominster by-pass road.
Conditions were good and cool with only a slight wind to make the second half of the race a little tougher.
Ruth Heatley, in only her second open time trail race, finished in second position in the ladies race recording a personal best time of 26-32.
Les Bailey recorded a time of 27-03 in the veterans section.
