Dear Editor - In April, town and district councillor Donald Lawley received much credit via your pages, for proposals to improve Droitwich health facilities.
Achieved by relocating the police station and Wychavon shop to a redundant magistrates building, then expanding our health centre into the vacated police premises funded by sale of the resulting Bullocks building.
Councillors basked in praise from your letters page, for possible use of Bullocks as a nightspot for young people. No one denied such plans. Now rumours abound that Bullocks is not to be a discotheque but a lap-dancing club for the more salacious elements of society. What is Wychavon' s next brainwave, opening Mrs Copson's premises as an adult shop?
Such depravities will not attract suitable tourists to our Spa. Have our district councillors no moral fibre in the defence of Droitwich, against the predations of Evesham and Pershore?
I call on Cllr Lawley to clearly and unequivocally state exactly what is mooted for our health centre, police station, Wychavon shop and dear historic Bullocks.
Maj R K Carmel CDM Retd,
Lyttleton Road, Droitwich Spa.
