Dear Editor - I write to complain about the assault I received in Rubery on the afternoon of Sunday, June 29, just going about my business.
I bought some items from a local shop and was waiting to pay when a youth pushed in front of me. I explained to her that there was a queue and that I was next.
I was then subjected to a verbal and physical attack while bemused members of the public watched and members of staff became conspicuous by their absence.
I am angry that this exchange took place with no intervention from staff or security. As a mature adult and a mother of two children, I do not expect to be abused in broad daylight and was concerned that I was basically left to fend for myself. While I do not expect my battles to be fought for me, I do expect to feel safe in the middle of a store on a Sunday afternoon. Needless to say I will not be shopping there again.
Concerned,
Rubery.
